The Corona Song

March 2020, national lockdown

April 2020, a Facebook post caught my attention

About creating a song

To show that we are together

Share our struggles

Spread love

And inspire

I am immediately hooked and want to take part in this project. We end up being a bit less than 10 people from different countries and musical backgrounds. We meet weekly via Zoom and brainstorm about what we could create. One particular week we were assigned to make individually a small demo to discuss it with the group and come to a common project. The concept was that each of us recounts the lockdown experience from one particular person’s point of view.

Unfortunately, that project did not succeed. You can still find the a cappella demo I made back then here below.

Lyrics

It’s 7 AM anew

Snoozing as a cop-out move

The alarm rings it’s not a cue

To forget what we’re going through

Finally getting out of the sheets

Wishing to stay forever in dreams

Stuck in an uncertain rut

While always dreading for our future

Shower, breakfast, work non-stop

Cooking, Netflix, chat and sport

Although virtually connected

Still missing banter face to face

Now, back to your single bed

Not knowing when this will end

And it’s not easy for anyone

And it’s not because we’re all apart

That we should forget that we are one

And we are gonna fight this, strong
