About

A letter to all passionate people

Dear reader,

We live in a world where knowledge has become more accessible than ever thanks to the internet. With a few clicks you can find loads of information to help you learn any skill. Nonetheless, we often face an overload of information and it becomes hard to know which resource is relevant and more importantly how to use them efficiently to achieve a given result.

For as far as I can remember I have always learnt different skills as an autodidact and within a decade I developed some ways to find the best resources and use them in a way that will get me closer to my goals. I used that knowledge to help me progress in my different passions, which are words, movement, music and languages. I wrote down many notes, guides for friends, garnered lists of resources, methods and so on. Looking at all these files on my hard drive and having friends asking me to share some of them, I thought : ‘Maybe that could be useful for other people’. And that’s how this website was brought to life.

I am a fervent proponent of free and autodidact learning. Anyone should have the opportunity to learn any given skill on their own. The internet is full of high-quality resources but they are often very hard to find and some amazing content are just hardly known of. My first goal with this website is thus to garner all the best free or low cost high-quality resources I have found in the past years for my different passions and sort them by category. However having a list of resources is not sufficient in order to improve in these disciplines. This is why some sections will be provided with a guide that explains how to combine the different resources in an efficient way depending on your goals. These guides are all available for free and thanks to the pay-what-want model you can also contribute to my work if you want to. My mission is thus to learn and grow as much as possible so that I can use this website for the benefit of others and in the cheapest way possible.

As a long-term oriented person, most of the guides and methods that I share here are aimed to people who want to spend years perfecting their craft rather than dabbling around. Therefore most of the content on this website will be in written form so that you have the time and focus to dive into it. The resources can be still be useful to have a glimpse of what each discipline is about before setting out to master them.

That being said, I hope you will take a lot of value from this website and I wish you to achieve all of your goals in any skill!

With passionate regards,

Umu
